The 24 little openings each have a line from the poem we call “The Night Before Christmas,” written in 1823 as “A Visit From St. Nicholas” and attributed to Clement Clark Moore. Every day you can read the next line as you enjoy your piece of milk chocolate. By Christmas Day you have the entire poem completed and probably committed to memory!

The Williams Sonoma 2018 Twas The Night Before Christmas Advent Calendar costs $16.95 for the box containing 24 individually wrapped 100% premium milk chocolates. The chocolate candies are smooth and sweet, tasting delicious like a quality chocolate candy should, but do not stand out as more exquisite than the yummy chocolates in the other Advent calendars so far this year.

I am a real fan of fussy Victorian-style artwork. The images of the snowman, the Victorian tree with its candles, birds, and snowflakes, and the presents with their period-style wrappings all evoke a feeling of nostalgia for simpler times and a pure holiday experience that probably only happened in books. (But I love it anyway!)  I think the price (71 cents for each candy piece) is not too bad for the brand name, the artwork on the box, the candies, and the concept of sharing the Christmas poem. Other chocolate Advent calendars can be had for a much lower price if you just want the daily chocolate surprise to get you through the month!
