Aldi 2019 Choceur Premium Advent Calendar

We were so lucky to have our choice of all the Advent calendars our local Aldi had in stock this year, so we brought home the best chocolate calendars they had on display. The Aldi 2019 Choceur Premium Advent Calendar was the same as one of our favorite chocolate Advent calendars that we reviewed last year for both quality of chocolate and price. The 2019 version had the same box shape but different illustrations. This year a snowy village full of happy people celebrate Christmas with Santa and a pretty decorated Christmas tree.

The calendar has 24 milk chocolate figures with a milky filling, each with a unique shape.

The boxes were not difficult to open, though they did not have the handy little tabs that make it so much easier. Look how cute that Day 1 chocolate character is!

The candies are a product of Germany and Choceur uses cocoa from farms in the FairTrade Cocoa Program, which enables small-scale farmers to benefit by selling more of their cocoa as Fairtrade. Their candies were delightfully smooth, sweet, and chocolaty with none of that waxy taste that you sometimes get in cheaper chocolate candies.

Each of the chocolate candies are different, so every door hides not only a sweet, creamy treat but a surprise character for the day. The 1 1/2 inch tall chocolate candies are uniquely molded and unwrapped, with animals like a cat, dog, turtle, and hippo, objects like a trumpet, star, and train, and holiday figures like an angel and toy soldier. 

The cost of the Aldi 2019 Choceur Premium Advent Calendar was $4.99, the same price as last year’s box. That comes out to 21 cents for each piece of yummy chocolate candy! The back of the box has the full size line drawing of the box front illustration so you and/or your kids can enjoy creating your own color version of the happy village Christmas scene while you wait for the holiday to finally arrive!
