December 2015 – Kloverbox

I have been looking forward to opening my first Kloverbox since placing the order back in November! Subscriptions purchased during the current month will be receiving the upcoming month’s box. The December box arrived to my door on Christmas Eve, however I was out of town visiting my in-laws and didn’t get a chance to open the package until after the holidays were over!

This month’s box arrived and was smaller than I expected (but heavy).

Balanced Guru Soothe Me Day and Night Body Oil – Value:  $19.99

Benefits: Organic body oil good for all skin types. Moisturize and soothe your skin without leaving a greasy feeling with a blend of fast absorbing nourishing oils. Enriched with a blend of Olive Oil, Avocado Oil, Jojoba Oil and Arnica extract and encapsulated Shiitake Mushrooms and Goji Berries. Safe for expecting mothers, nursing mothers and children.

This is a really great body oil to use right after a shower or bath. I love that it’s certified organic and is safe for Little G. I have been applying a small amount onto his face, arms, and legs after his bath and have noticed his dry skin has healed and is much more moisturized. I wouldn’t say the oil absorbs fully, but it isn’t greasy and smells like sweet oranges, which is so good! The bottle comes with a pump, but we have just been using the pop-top cap.

Dermadeli Calm Chamomile Exfoliating Scrub – $21.00

Product Description:  The special combination of exfoliating powders and moisturizing elements heals and calms overworked skin. The alpha bisabolol provides same anti-inflammatory effects as chamomile flower and calms skin while the other ingredients repair damages. This exfoliating scrub is a dry product. Mixing a small amount of the scrub with water and rubbing in the palms of your hands, produces a creamy substance that gently cleanses and exfoliates your skin without any harshness.

 I have never seen a dry scrub before and also have never used an exfoliating scrub on my face. I have naturally oily skin and am hesitant to use exfoliants, worried that they would clog my pores or cause break-outs. Being the diligent blogger that I am, I took one for the team and tested this one out anyway. The dry powder does not smell too appealing to me, however once mixed with water, the scrub instantly smells like a delicious cup of hot tea! After following the simple instructions, I washed and rinsed my face and could immediately tell a difference in my skin. This is quite a large jar and will go a long way — which is great for me, since I have been converted and will be using Dermadeli’s exfoliating scrub every night!

 I get worried when I receive perfume in subscription boxes, since everyone’s preferences and hormones are different. Fortunately, I received a sample of Harvey Prince’s Hello in a Birchbox earlier in the year and found it works extremely well for me. I already have a go-to perfume that I’ve been wearing for decades, but I really enjoy this scent and am considering alternating between the two now that I have this full-size spray.

I have a pretty serious love for chapstick that dates back to when I was majoring in music performance on french horn. I especially love mint chapstick and have been on a quest to find a replacement for my (now empty) tin of Burt’s Bees that I’ve had all year. I was expecting the Kiss Me Honey balm to be more on the minty side, but this is a true beeswax chapstick with notes of peppermint that works remarkably well to hydrate and protect my lips during this really cold, dry month. The more I use it, the more I love it!

I am quite impressed with Kloverbox’s beauty-focused curation this month! I really love subscription boxes that force me to step outside my comfort zone (change is good), and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the beauty products in December’s box. I really do not pamper myself with body oils and exfoliating scrubs, but have found these items to be a welcome addition to our nightly routines. The perfume smells lovely and I always love and appreciate receiving a good quality chapstick. The value in this box is extraordinary, since I only paid $25.00 and received almost triple the value in full-size products! I have already paid for my second Kloverbox and cannot wait to see what’s inside! I’m hoping next month will have some home goods too.
