Essentials Bundle

We have purchased Honest Company products in the past, including the most adorable diapers for Little G, and I fell in love with the great designs and eco-friendly ingredients. I have been looking forward to trying their subscription service and decided to get the Essentials Bundle.

For me, adding a little more than the $14.05 worth of additional items to my cart actually works out to about the amount I would have paid for shipping the bundle alone!

For this review, I decided to pick up the “stock” items that default in the essentials bundle and am not including the additional items I purchased to qualify for free shipping. You have the option to customize your box once the bundle is added to your cart, which is a great way to explore the full selection of personal care & home cleaning products available!

Honest Multi-Surface Cleaner 26 fl. oz.- Value:  $5.95

We go through a LOT of all-purpose cleaner at our house. (Little G is very messy no matter what he is doing!) This cleaner has a very light citrus scent, advertised as white grapefruit, though it smells like lemon to us! The spray easily cleaned off dried crusty play dough, sticky apple cider, and food particles left on our coffee table without leaving any filmy residue or sticky spots. This is a great product and the price is very reasonable.

Honest Shampoo + Body Wash 8.5 fl. oz. – Value:  $9.95

This product came in the nick of time, as we were just running out of Little G’s baby soap. The scent is advertised as sweet orange vanilla and smells divine. A little bit goes a long way, which is excellent for the cost! The scent is mild when applied and we got a great lather. Thumbs up!

Honest Face + Body Lotion 8.5 fl. oz. – Value:  $9.95

I was looking forward to using this as an after-bath lotion for Little G, but this product does have alcohol in it, so I opted not to apply it on him. The lotion is definitely lighter and more “watery” than skin creams, but the formula has a light scent and seems to absorb very well into slightly damp skin quickly without feeling greasy at all. I probably won’t switch to this lotion, since I like a thicker cream for my arms and legs, especially in the winter, but I do like having this as an option for face lotion once the weather gets drier.

Honest Hand Soap (Lavender) 11.5 fl. oz. – Value:  $4.95

I love the smell of this hand soap! The formula allows for a decent lather and washes away clean without left over soap residue. I will say I used a full squirt, at minimum, to develop the right amount of lather. (Typically I only use a half-squirt of liquid soap.) The lavender scent is just lovely and works well in our guest bathroom!

Honest Organic Healing Balm 3 oz. – Value:  $12.95

This is my favorite item in the box, hands down. We have finally depleted the stash of diaper ointment from Little G’s baby shower and are on our own with purchasing the right creams for his little bum. This balm feels like petroleum jelly but doesn’t contain any in the ingredients list. Little G does not have diaper rash often thankfully, but this product has absolutely healed any redness and inflammation that occurs in that rare circumstance. I also applied a little balm to my cracked cuticles when it was particularly dry and windy outside. My hands did feel oily and had a significant shine to them (like using petroleum jelly), but the cracks healed and my hands felt great afterward. It has a very light chamomile scent, which is pleasant and not overwhelming.

I am impressed with The Honest Company for the huge selection of quality and eco-conscious products available. I think the value of the box is great and I was very excited to try an assortment of items for a discounted rate. (I would be hesitant to purchase a $13 healing balm in the store.) Next time, I think I will peruse the site and customize our box with different products – I have my eye on the kid’s toothpaste for Little G and I also want to try the fruit + veggie wash!
