This is a review of the January 2016 Birchbox, a monthly beauty sample subscription box for women. Birchbox also has a subscription box for men as well as an online store where you can purchase additional items. The beauty box price is $10 per month or $110 for an annual subscription. There is a Beauty Profile for you to fill out before you subscribe. This helps the company to select the items for your box that most suit your personal preferences. Your box also includes a product guide that gives the description and price of each item they send to you.

Evelyn Iona Cosmetics – Natural & Organic Concealer – sample size ($22 for Full Size)

This is a tiny little jar of organic concealer made with coconut, jojoba and castor seed oils, provides crease-free and flake-free coverage and moisture. A little goes a long way! This comes in 5 different colors but the one I received does not have a color label on it. It looks like medium beige.

Eyeko – Fat Liquid Liner – Full Size ($16)

This is a smudgeproof black eyeliner, rich in long lasting color with a thick, bold line. Not for me, but I have seen some gorgeously decorated eyes with liquid black eyeliner. And this is not a sample size!

Number 4 – Super Comb Prep & Protect – sample size ($9 for 1.5 oz travel size)

This is smaller than the travel size that the company sells, 1 oz instead of the 1.5 oz (above). So the value is approx. $6. This is a sulfate-free leave-in conditioning spray thatdetangles and protects your hair and its color from UV rays. Handy when you spend a lot of outdoor time.

Supergoop! – Advanced SPF 37 Anti-Aging Eye Cream – sample size ($45 for Full Size)

Blocking UV rays from your skin is one of the essentials of avoiding wrinkles! This does the job with the SPF 37, plus reduces dark circles & depuffs undereye bags. Worth a try. Most of those dark circles under your eyes are genetic.

Whish – Three Whishes Body Butter – Almond – sample size ($24 for Full Size)

This body butter smells really great and has an antioxidant formula that helps firm, soften and soothe your skin. It is all natural with organic ingredients, made in the USA and not tested on animals.

This month’s Birchbox had a better value than the December box. The one full size item (eyeliner) more than paid for the cost of the box. Everything else was an added bonus. The variety was fair, with 3 products for eyes, 1 for hair and 1 for skin/hands and a few of the samples were really tiny. But if you had purchased the eyeliner in the store, you would not have received the samples to try so this was a good deal for the $10 cost!
