April 2016 Mini Monthly Mystery Box of Awesome

I just found out about the Monthly Mystery Box of Awesome a couple weeks ago, despite it being around for over NINE years! That’s right, That Daily Deal created a monthly subscription box before it was cool. I was extremely excited to see what kind of random goodies would come in the new mini version of the standard Monthly Mystery Box of Awesome. That Daily Deal has the most addicting website of totally random stuff; if you haven’t checked it out already, you totally should.

So let me start by saying I have been scrambling to find my brother the perfect birthday gift this year. Joseph “celebrated” his 33rd birthday while on a month-long Army training mission so luckily I had some extra time to find the perfect, dumb birthday presents for him. My brother and I have given each other some absolutely ridiculous, random presents over the years… you could call it our sibling tradition. We just can’t help ourselves; it’s too funny to pass up each year. For example, this past Christmas I asked my family for supplies or gift cards to help me set up my home office…

And this is what Joe got me. Yeah.

Needless to say, I was banking on the April 2016 Mini Monthly Mystery Box of Awesome to bring me something silly and delightful that could go into Joseph’s birthday care package. I’m pleased to say I was not disappointed!!

The mini “box” was actually a white mailer and my first peek inside revealed… something furry?! I was not expecting that!

There was an info sheet included in the package that showed how many people received the MEGA BOX prize in their package this month (an Amazon Echo!!) Mega Boxes are thrown into the mix at random every month and subscribers have a chance to receive a HUGE high-dollar prize with their package! Next month’s prize is a fitbit, which I’ve wanted for years but have never purchased for myself… *crossing fingers*

There’s also information about getting the option to select items off the website to add to your box at extreme discounts, which is really cool if you spy some extras you just have to buy and want mailed to you with your regular monthly subscription.

Flair Hair Visor (Red) – Value:  $19.99

Oh. My. Goodness. This is such a hilarious gift for any guy with a sense of humor. I was so confused when I first took the visor out of the package, but quickly realized the hilarity after Little G tried it on. PLUS I was told that Bill Murray rocked one, so I’m sold. (Our family loves that guy.)

Yup, he’s over it. This is going to be a *perfect* addition to Joseph’s care package! I love it!

iWork 5 Piece LED Flashlight & Headlamp Set – Value:  $9.99

I am so glad to see this set of flashlights and headlamps! I managed to lose my flashlight recently and have been needing to pick up a replacement but keep forgetting! I mean, it’s like an umbrella… you don’t really think about it until you need it and then it’s too late. Am I right? The headlamps require cell batteries, included in the package; the flashlights require (3) AAA batteries each, not included. Fortunately we have a ton of AAA batteries around the house.

Why, you ask, would we have a ton of AAA batteries? Because someone picked up a huge pack by accident thinking they were AA batteries. I’m not naming names because I’m a lady… *cough cough* Jonathan *cough*

Kikkerland Talking Keyring Mustache – Value:  $5.49

I almost missed this little guy in the bag! The mustache actually says “Why Hellooooo There” when you push the button on the bottom. It’s really funny and just loud enough for people to turn and look at you once it’s pushed. I cannot WAIT to give this to Joseph. Little G loves pushing the button to make it talk (over and over and over). I actually had to hide it from him… now if I can remember where I hid it, we can get the care package wrapped up and out in the mail!  🙂

Holy cow! This package has an amazing value for only $9.99 a month and included some hilarious, random items that are perfect for giving my brother. I was stumped as to how I was going to finish his birthday care package and That Daily Deal totally saved my butt. I love it and I know he will too. I am also so, so glad I received LED flashlights. I put one of the flashlights to use last night, trying to find where my dog, Beijing, went to the bathroom in my neighbor’s yard (oops). The flashlight works great and with an extremely bright light beam. Now if only the flashlight came with an automatic pooper scooper…

All in all, I am very happy with my first month’s mini box! It’s a really great reminder to stop taking life so seriously sometimes. I really love bargains and love that I can share fun items with my family and friends at an extreme discount! What’s not to love??
